North Bengal is among Bangladesh's most productive agricultural corridors, and among its most structurally underserved. Three conditions compound one another: households and farms without reliable power cannot store, process, or compete; multi-layered intermediary chains absorb a large share of every harvest's value before it reaches the farmer who grew it; and the financial products available to these communities are, without exception, interest-based — closed to a population whose faith forbids their use. None of these three is accidental. Direct farmer-to-market linkages that remove exploitative intermediary layers, with transparent pricing and every transaction recorded. A regional network of cold storage facilities to eliminate post-harvest losses and give farmers time to sell on their own terms.
